Testimonials

I’m very lucky to have worked with some fantastic students over the years, many of whom have been kind enough to send me testimonials like the ones below.

Nicholas, Year 8 student

I began learning French with Mrs. Whittaker with virtually no experience. Her teaching allowed me to not only to excel in my school tests, not only speak to a higher level than was expected than the school curriculum, but also really enjoy learning a new language!

Sarah, mother of Year 10 student

Sylvie tutored my son during the general school closure due to COVID-19. He had only started to learn French the year before and was worried that he would miss out on French speaking practice. Sylvie used an online tutoring platform during lockdown to deliver virtual lessons which worked really well. My son got a great deal out of the lessons and the 1-2-1 work with Sylvie. She was very quickly able to gauge his level and plan lessons accordingly to fit in with his GCSE curriculum. My son went on to do really well in his end of year school assessment and was very pleased with his progress.

Izzie, Year 12

I am a year 12 student and have been tutored by Sylvie since year 7. I would highly recommend Sylvie as she tailors the work to suit my learning style, making lessons interactive and engaging. Not only did we focus on grammar but we also looked at french culture by reading books, articles and watching videos, giving me a broader understanding of the language and preparing me well for my exams.

Elodie, Year 8

I am a year 8 student and have studied French with Sylvie at my primary school and now as a tutor after school. Sylvie really helps me understand French grammar which makes me feel more confident in my French lessons at school. I would definitely recommend Sylvie as a French tutor.

Genevieve, parent

Just to let you know that Francesca got A for French – a subject she doesn’t have natural flair for, or particularly like! A lot of that is down to your help and patience.

Steve, Conversation Class

Sylvie is very engaging and French conversation is really enjoyable as she knows a great deal about French culture, arts, food and drink etc….so it means we learn highly relevant issues.

She also gets us to look at French idioms and phrases that can be used in everyday language, and also covers some grammar points.
